The Dark Hedges sounds very ominous. I’d heard they were in a scene of Game of Thrones, but didn’t know much else.
Planted in the 18th century, this avenue of beech trees was meant to welcome visitors to the Stuart family home. 200 years later it’s a much loved tourist stop near to the Giant’s Causeway.
The wind nearly knocked me over, but it didn’t take away from the breathtaking view beneath the trees. We always say that it’s such a small world, but there are things out there that remind us how big it really is. This was one of those things for me.
Want to visit? You can find the Dark Hedges on Bregagh Road, Ballymoney, BT53 8TP.
