Looking for something different to do around Dublin?
On my first weekend in the city, I visited one of the sites of the National Museum of Ireland. This one is specific to Decorative Arts & History, and located in the Collins Barracks, Dublin 7.
It was interesting to wander around a museum housed in a lovely old building that used to be army barracks. Inside they’ve got a wide array of permanent exhibitions, from Irish silver and currency, to the works of Eileen Gray, to the very interesting Four Centuries of Furnishings. It’s amazing how trends come around!
My favourite was The Way We Wore, a collection of Irish clothes and jewellery from 1760-1960.
It’s worth a visit!
