And so it begins! I’m working on the first step of my move to Ireland: the paperwork. While it’s never the most exciting step, it is one of the most important.
To get a Working Holiday Visa in Ireland, they require you to submit your documents through SWAP Working Holidays. This is a great company that helps young Canadian travellers get visas for many countries around the world. When I moved to the UK in 2011, I also used SWAP to help with the planning and paperwork. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a little extra guidance throughout the process, especially settling in once you arrive. In any case, for Ireland it’s mandatory.
I signed up for the program online at swap.ca. It was as simple as a few bits of personal information, and a credit card to make your payment.
Within a few days, I received my SWAP Ireland welcome pack by email. I was happy to see that there was much less paperwork for Ireland than the UK!
Fill out the forms, get some plane tickets and insurance, take a few photos, and send it off! SWAP can help you book your flights and guide you through their insurance policy options. They’ll also look over all your forms to make sure you’ve got everything filled out correctly.
Let the adventure begin.
