My first trip to Scotland! Samantha and I took a flight up in the wee hours of a Saturday in October for a two day visit. It was so cold! I’ve been doing a lot of traveling in Europe these days, and it was nice to see somewhere else in the UK with my favourite type of architecture.
I didn’t realize, but the old city of Edinburgh is built on a massive hill that was formed during the ice age. There are tons of hills and staircases up the sides. Of course, it has since expanded. A lot.
We visited the castle, the new and old cities, did walking tours of the Royal Mile and the hidden Vaults under one of the bridges, and (finally) went on a pub crawl. Seven stops and we finished at an Irish sports bar… so weird.
