The move went ahead, and without a hitch!
On August 17th, Charlie and I boarded our flight out of Vancouver, and by the afternoon on Sunday, we were in our flat in Dublin.
There were no issues with liquids in carry ons, visa papers, or missing luggage. But we were tired nonetheless!
I’ve spent a few days wandering around the city, between various appointments, registrations, and orientation sessions. It looks a lot like I remember it when I was visiting with Alexis two years ago, prior to my move to London. This time though, I’ve mastered the tram system that runs North of the river, and pay more attention to the locations of each Starbucks and Boots.
I’ll write another blog post on the details of setting up my work authorization upon arrival for anyone who is considering the move and wondering about the next step. For now, here are my first impressions of Dublin in 2013, from the Museum of Modern Art to the Trinity College campus:
