Proms? Is there a ballgown involved?
I was really excited to attend this year’s Proms in the Park, a musical event hosted by the BBC in Hyde Park.
The Proms is a concert series that runs for eight weeks every summer in London, culminating in the famous ‘Last Night’ at Royal Albert Hall. This final show begins in four parks around the UK, and finishes with a broadcast to all the sites from the Hall in London.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the event is half fancy picnic, half concert series. We opted to purchase a pre-made hamper that included wine, soft drinks, various types of hummus and crackers, salads, desserts and snacks.
From the BBC Concert orchestra and the Royal Choral Society, to newcomers Jack Pack, and superstars The Jacksons, they put on an amazing show. We finished off with a singalong to some of songs in the Sound of Music!
This is definitely a perfect end to the summer. Mark it on your calendar for next year!
